An outage of key programs and applications can result in lost productivity and decreased customer service, putting additional stress on IT staff.** With so much at stake, it's important that organizations plan for every potential scenario, even those that are unlikely to happen. Data loss can be incredibly expensive. An IBM-commissioned study found that in 2018 the average cost of a security breach to a global company was $3.86 million. That number is 23 percent higher than a study commissioned just five years before and 6.4 percent higher than in 2017. The cost of breaches will only go up, so the cost of not protecting yourself only looks to increase. That is where disaster recovery comes in. ### Posts by Topic - [Data Security 12](https://blog.athenacloud.io/blog/tag/data-security) - [Cloud Computing 9](https://blog.athenacloud.io/blog/tag/cloud-computing) - [Cloud Security 8](https://blog.athenacloud.io/blog/tag/cloud-security) - [Cloud Solutions for Legal Firms 8](https://blog.athenacloud.io/blog/tag/cloud-solutions-for-legal-firms) - [Cyber Security 8](https://blog.athenacloud.io/blog/tag/cyber-security) - [Security 6](https://blog.athenacloud.io/blog/tag/security) - [Choosing A Cloud Services Providers 5](https://blog.athenacloud.io/blog/tag/choosing-a-cloud-services-providers) - [Disaster Recovery 5](https://blog.athenacloud.io/blog/tag/disaster-recovery) - [IT Systems & Services 5](https://blog.athenacloud.io/blog/tag/it-systems-services) - [Business Continuity 4](https://blog.athenacloud.io/blog/tag/business-continuity) - [Data Backup 0](https://blog.athenacloud.io/blog/tag/data-backup) - [Cloud Computing for Financial Institutions 0](https://blog.athenacloud.io/blog/tag/cloud-computing-for-financial-institutions) - [Managed Cloud Services 0](https://blog.athenacloud.io/blog/tag/managed-cloud-services) - [Business Agility 0](https://blog.athenacloud.io/blog/tag/business-agility) - [Cloud Services 0](https://blog.athenacloud.io/blog/tag/cloud-services) - [Small Business 0](https://blog.athenacloud.io/blog/tag/small-business) - [COVID-19 0](https://blog.athenacloud.io/blog/tag/covid-19) - [Cloud Computing for CEOs 0](https://blog.athenacloud.io/blog/tag/cloud-computing-for-ceos) - [Hybrid Cloud Computing 0](https://blog.athenacloud.io/blog/tag/hybrid-cloud-computing) Show more #### Sign up for our newsletter and get great content delivered straight to your inbox.
